Sherlyn J. Linschoten Ether 12:27

This is my all-time favorite scripture from the Book of Mormon

"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

Marion Chiu Enjoy the time with kids at Primary Sundy School

It's been one and half year that I teach 8-11 years old at Primary Sunday School. I love these kids and have lots of pleasure when I taught them. In the beginning of this year, I asked myself what I want them to learn in this year, especially some of them aregoing to rise to Young Men group. So, I set up some rules for them to get points and when they collect enough points, they can…

Marianne McGee The Reason why I moved to France!

While my life ahead was not very clear as yet, after the death of my father I was able to feel reinforced by a powerful spirit which was increasing daily. I focussed on serving in my ward and on helping Liliane to become well and independent after the death of her husband. Every Saturday I was able to spend with my son, Aaron meeting each time in some fabulous location in Paris. Lol there were definitely some upsides to this adventure!

I already had a brief inkling of what might be…

Marianne McGee Forever Friends

While the rest of my blogs seem to read like a chronology of events for my time here in Paris today I am feeling philosophical and full of questions.  Once a good woman told me that we are lucky if we have one or two really good friends. We have lots of acquaintances but real friends are something else. I have been doing the whole navel gazing thing lately and have counted my lucky stars that I have always…

Tom Wright I am nobody special...

I am no one special! Just a common man, with common thoughts, I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but in one aspect I've succeded gloriously as anyone who ever lived. I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and for me that has always been enough.

Marianne McGee The Lord's timing is perfect down to the last second

June 2010 was quite the month for me in France. It is the month in  which my daughter gave birth to my first grandchild-Ella. It was not the same as actually being there with her but I made the most of the free calls from France to NZ and shared in her hours of labour as she breathed through the contractions until  Ella's father could be there with her. Although there are incredible miracles that surround this experience I am not going to add them here because they are her experiences as well… Continue

Mark Hoffman Dangers of Falling in Love - Part 1

Ever notice how some people tend to repeat the same mistakes?  Why and how does that happen?

There are men who are drawn to women who surprisingly turn out to be compulsive spenders, or nags, or substance abusers, or compulsive collectors.  There are women who are drawn to men who surprisingly turn out to be womanizers, chronically unfaithful, abusive, or scoundrels.

A highly respected psychologist and mentor of mine once stated that he did not offer marital therapy in his…

Marianne McGee Leaving my Children in New Zealand

This one subject has caused more heartache and more difficulties than all of the other subjects combined relating to my move. I think that it is time to broach it here.

It had always been planned for me to go back to New Zealand in February 2009, timed to enable me to attend the 80th birthday party for my…

Anne Doherty Flapjacks are the best!

Made with cashews, sunflower seeds, cherries, pumpkin seeds and figs. Yum. I might be better off with the chocolate and cream cakes actually, They were fattening but caused a few spasms of guilt. Eating these I feel angelic and should be bursting with health! Even though they might be a tad calorific ...

The healthy things are so healthy they must offset the butter and sugar - and I use goat butter and brown sugar. If you spread the mixture thin and…

Deborah Algra Starting a B&B in my own home - my dinnertable mirror and other challenges

Hi folks,

Time is marching on.... almost one of 12 is over... and I am working on my dinnertable mirror... it is not done yet fully, but the mirrors are now on the mdf. Had to laquer the mdf first for a better sticking process. Now I will dedicate myself to lackering the frame for the mirror... afterwards I will make "socket" for the mirror... a socket of 1.34 wide... :) To keep the mdf off the floor. I will paint the socket also at the bottomside, to keep water from going…

Anne Doherty Not too bad ...

Me and the year are getting on okay so far. I just noticed it's the 16th and I still haven't bought any chocolate or cream cakes.

I've started writing a couple of books and it's great fun, so much so that I highly recommended it as a hobby, it costs nothing and it's so enjoyable. Like watching a brilliant film and you're in charge of what happens next. I've also started poking my 2 cents in a couple of online communities.

This is all because I had…

Deborah Algra Starting a B&B in my own home - The Diningroom Mirror

Busy busy busy... but again something that I enjoy :) Just called a do-it-yourself market in Bad Bentheim... I need a MDF plate 1.30 Mtr wide and 2.15 Mtr high... to make a huge wallmirror for my dining-room :) I bought nice big square stick-it-on mirrors at Ikea and I make a nice wooden rim around the mirror... a littlebit like my small antique mirror that hung over my diningtable (see my pictures earlier on)   which I now hung upstairs against my new orange wall :) I put a very colourful…

Deborah Algra Starting a B&B in my own home: Yellow and Orange

Last Saturday painting the house went to a higher level, LOL... we went to the first floor and painted the whole landing... Which is big, it has three directions :) the hallway where my Laundryroom and my studio are, is yellow, just like the stairs..

The other hallways, one with the stairs, the stairs to the attic and the guestroom, and the one with the bathroom, and the two private bedrooms, are now a wonderful sunny orange! It was a heck of of job, but we got one layer done in that…

Anne Doherty Blogging is fun!

I had no idea I'd enjoy blogging so much. It's nice to have record of things going on now and then.Yes, I do keep a diary but can't read my handwriting so it's pretty much redundant. I have the other blog too, on which I'm working out some plotlines and that's going well also. It's so easy to keep things sorted - the posts and pages and topics work really well for me in that one.

Lose a ton is a great idea, but not for me I'm afraid. threw out the scales when my cat (now…

Anne Doherty New Year

Going surprisingly well. We're slowly getting down all the things I've said I won't be buying again (it remains to be seen whether I'll break down and buy them or not.

It's funny how life changes. Things that were important are just not at all important any more. This is good. You'd think we'd expect it, after all, skipping was so much fun when i was seven-ish. I remember thinking how strange it was that adults didn't want to do it, and how I never wanted not to…

Anne Doherty Still not

On Christmas eve my family get together.

I had such plans!

Oh yes. We were going to tidy up and come home to a lovely neat house and that would cheer us (well - me) up for Christmas day (already happy from the family get together, we'd be pretty ecstatic).

Did it happen?

First the kids were running late and lost everything - you know how that goes, make up, clothes and shoes all over, cards and envelopes everywhere.…

Giving the Gift of Self

Article by J.M.S. February 13, 2012

Instead of wondering, "What will I get this Valentine's Season?", let us ask, "What can I do for so in so?". One this is for sure. You will have a great day!

Ideas of Gifts:

For Parents:

Volunteer to take some pictures of them as a couple. Put them in front of a nice backdrop and make sure they get some poses kissing and cuddling. Print them for them and put them in a cute frame.

For Nieces/Nephews:

Make them a valentine with specific compliments on them. Make a little baggie with stickers and crayons or treats to go with it. Make it specific to them and relate the items in the bag to qualities they have that you admire.

For a Lover:

Give them things that they have specifically expressed an interest in, not things that you like or see value in that they may not feel the same way about.

Specify house projects you will help them with each season of the year or get them something for that season so they can 'feel the love all year round': gardening in spring (flower pot), shoveling in winter (ice melt/snow blower), raking in fall (rake), watering in summer

(sprinkling system or sprinkler or get them a fan to stay cool, or a nice water bottle or hat)

For a Friend:

Write a poem.

Tell them all the reasons you are grateful they are in your life.

Pray for an opportunity to show you care and express your love.

Give hugs.

Make a phone call.

Say sorry and ask forgiveness. Forgive.

Write a song.

For God:

Love one another; in THOUGHT, WORD and DEED

Love Him above all else and make sure that what you love fits in with His plan for you!

For Self:
